Okee accommodation for a night

Very friendly owners and volunteers mostly from Argentina which is perfect to practice my Spanish. Only a view minutes away from the Lagoon.

The hostel is under construction and everywhere unfinished projects. Has everything you need but nothing more.

Pretty low ceiling, not so nice to have the upper bed. A bit dirty. Not central, wasnt nice to walk back alone from the city center at night. But a taxi was very cheap.

We just stayed 1 night .

We just stayed 1 night . Location was excellent , easy to find and 2 min walking from an entrance to the lagoon. Breakfast included was very good!! complete meal not only coffee and cookies ... Money worthy Staff is very friendly :) I did not use them but there were bikes available.

Some maintenance needed to the showers and toilets, also to the pool The dinning area was a bit messy, there were some dirty pillows and with fungus

My dorm bed was kinda old, but sooo comfortable :) !

My dorm bed was kinda old, but sooo comfortable :) ! It is close to the laguna, like 2 minutes walking. You pay 10 pesos to get on the camping site (instead of the regular 20) and it’s a nice spot with a deck and almost nobody was there when we went.

A bit far from town, next to the road without any store very close by. It is at walking distance though.

For Breakfast there was bread, jam, eggs and fresh fruits,...

For Breakfast there was bread, jam, eggs and fresh fruits, really yummy! The pool was so relaxing and the dorms are big enough!

The staff wasn’t so good and welcoming, almost anyone speaks english and didn’t even talk with me and my friend. One of the 2 toilets was stucked of poo and we were using for days just one toilet in 20 people, while all the volunteers where chilling outside and didn’t care about this too much. If you don’t speak spanish better to avoid it, because the volunteers will avoid you. At least they can do a little effort to improve their language skills and make people feel in a happy place.

What would you highlight about Casa Maya Blue

A lot of room for improvement

Nice setup with four rooms, an outdoor 'kitchen' (although you can't cook anything) and an outdoor space with chairs, tables and hammocks. You can swim/relax in the lagoon at the bottom of their road from a grassy area with picnic tables and dock. Great coffee at breakfast.

Run by volunteers and when I stayed there was a large group of them who took over the place playing loud music from morning to night. Bathrooms were kept clean but beds in my room weren't changed after people left. The kitchen had a cooker that wasnt connected so you couldn't actually cook anything, just use a hot water kettle. Hardly any plug sockets anywhere. Breakfast was just bread, a small pot of jam and some pineapple, with a sign up saying two slices of bread per person. A real shame because this hostel could be awesome if it was run better.

5/10, wouldn't recommend.

The location is far from town, so just be ready for a dark walk back at night. The showers were FREEZING. Breakfast was fine, eggs, toast, fruit, coffee. I picked this hostel because I thought it would be more quiet and mellow than the center ones, but unfortunately the staff were extremely loud at night, playing music, cooking, drinking, singing, and so sleep was not possible. I felt like I was crashing their party rather than feeling like a welcomed guest.

What would you highlight about Casa Maya Blue

Excellent

Comfortable mattress. AC in the room. Clean bathrooms and showers. Excellent breakfast given the price. Right next to the lake with a good access point to relax. Reasonably priced kayaks. The Argentinian crew that takes care of the place was really chill. Good lockers in the room. Decent WiFi. Nice laid back vibe all around.

Far from town. It takes you 15 minutes on foot or 30MXN for a taxi to get to any place where you can eat. Not enough places to charge phones.

Perfect little hostel

This hostel was amazing for the price. The best seemed old but we’re so comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Considering it was part of the price, the breakfast was delicious and really makes this place amazing value. The proximity to the lagoon was very good too.

The location was a little out of the main town but it was still walkable. The pool that was pictured was too dirty to use (as informed by the staff) which was a shame but the lagoon is barely a minute walk away so it wasn’t much of an issue.
